Add and Edit Project Cost Codes

Objective

To edit the existing cost codes or to add new cost codes to a Procore project.

Things to Consider

    Before you edit or delete your project's cost codes, review Procore's standard list of cost codes here.
    • If you decide that you would like to import a whole new list, see Import Cost Codes to Procore for instructions on how to bulk import a new set of cost codes and divisions.
    • If you would only like to edit or delete a few cost codes or divisions, see the steps below.

Steps

Edit Project Cost Codes

  1. Navigate to the project's Admin tool.
  2. Under 'Project Settings' in the right pane, click Cost Codes.
  3. Choose from these options:
    • Edit an Existing Code or Division
      1. Highlight the code or division. 
      2. Click Edit
      3. Change the Code and/or Division entry.
        Note: The code will not be editable if the cost codes were copied over from the company level. You are able to edit the descriptions of cost codes that are copied from the master set, but you cannot edit the code itself. 
        Note: All divisions and cost codes must have a unique number. Duplicate codes are not permitted. 
      4. Click Update.
    • Delete an Existing Code or Division
      1. Highlight the code or division. 
      2. Click Delete
      3. At the confirmation dialogue box, click OK to confirm the delete action.  

Add Project Cost Codes

  1. Navigate to the project's Admin tool.
  2. Under 'Project Settings', click Cost Codes.
  3. Choose from these options:
    • If you want to copy all of the Standard Cost Codes from the company's Admin tool, click the Copy All Codes button at the top of the Standard Cost Costs list. This moves the standard cost codes to the Project Cost Codes list. 
      Or
    • If you want to manually create cost codes, Choose from these options:
      • Add a New Division
        1. Expand the project's folder.
        2. Click Add Division.
        3. Enter a division's Code and Description in the 'Add Division' box. 
        4. Click Create.
      • Add a New Subdivision
        1. Highlight the desired Division or Code.
          Note: If you highlight a code, this following actions will transform the code into a division. 
        2. Click Add Division.
        3. Enter the division's Code and Description.
        4. Click Create.
      • Add a New Code
        1. Highlight the desired division.
        2. Click Add Code.
        3. Enter the division's Code and Description.
        4. Click Create.
